How Counseling Services Work
Counseling consists of 55 minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns and issues. In addition to listening, reflecting and providing insight, I also introduce strategies and tools that help guide you resolve issues and achieve your goals. Here’s how it works:
First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles and desires with me.
Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges and strengths are and the goals you want to achieve by coming to therapy.
We will start working on your goals which may include managing difficult emotions, changing the thoughts that keep you stuck or upset, improving your self esteem, making sense of what life experiences have impacted you and facing challenging life situations.
Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them during sessions as well as in between sessions. Homework has been proven to help clients with lasting change.
Over the course of our time together and with your active participation in and outside of sessions, you can make progress towards achieving your goals and the living the life you desire.
