Hello! I’m Julie Myers.
Being a therapist is very meaningful to me. I have experienced my share of anxiety, shame, loss, broken relationships and difficulty being true to myself. I know what it’s like to want to please others, help as much as possible and then realize perhaps I lost myself along the way.
Who I Help
Maybe you feel like you have worked so hard to have a fulfilling life, yet still find it challenging to be true to yourself. You also may have had relationships where you try your best to communicate and have a great connection, but things just aren’t going as well as you’d hoped. I can so relate to these circumstances. And I’d love to help you have the confidence and courage to live authentically and really thrive in your personal life as well as in relationships.
I love working with people from various backgrounds, races, sexualities and spiritual practices. I help people who feel stuck in their own personal struggles and dilemmas as well as folks who want to grow their bond and strengthen their relationships
A Little About Me As A Person
For the past several years, I have enjoyed my second career as a counselor. I am a teacher at heart, as that was my first job before being a school administrator and counselor. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy reading on my Kindle, listening to podcasts and participating in the latest trainings and teachings and ideas for my work.
Every now and then, I sneak in an engaging fiction novel, memoir or crime show! I’m lucky to be pretty active and enjoy exercising almost daily. I love baseball, OSU and traveling to places like New York City or Phoenix. Then I always enjoy chatting with friends and delving into my newest hobby and creative project!
My Professional Background
In terms of my professional credentials, I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. In 2010, I became a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and in 2011, a licensed alcohol & drug counselor (LADC).
My post graduate training includes Level One Internal Family Systems, certifications in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for couples as well as completion of Levels One and Two of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Lifelong learning and honing my therapeutic skills is very important to me.
